An elbow to hockey's chin
Right now, the QMJHL is wishing that Patrice Cormier, forward for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, had never gone to the World Juniors. Cormier gained a lot more name recognition from the tournament in Saskatchewan, and that’s why the hockey world is buzzing about the vicious elbow he planted in the face of Quebec Remparts’ defenceman Mikael Tam.

Team USA walked away with the World Junior gold tonight, after the Canadians stormed back with two goals in the final few minutes of the third to force overtime. The silver for Canada means that their streak of gold medal finishes at the WJHC is stopped at five; likewise, the ridiculous TSN montages that proclaim this group of 18- and 19-year-olds to be heroic, god-like figures can stop as well. ...

A lot of questions were being asked last Wednesday after Canada’s men’s Olympic hockey team was announced, as many wondered why certain players didn’t make the team. The bottom line is that as with any other national hockey team, there are always several players who are right on the brink; Canada just has too much top-end talent to fit it all on one team.
