Yup, I called it: Chicago in 6.  What I didn’t call was Adam Burish’s strangely-unnecessary comments after the game.

Adam Burish should know better than to put his foot in his mouth while wearing skates.  Sure, if you’re a Blackhawks fan, or a Pronger hater, you might have had a chuckle when he came out with that little gem, but you know that at some point, Chris Pronger is going to just end him.  (If Burish is even dressed for their next matchup, that is.)  At any rate, Pronger already smacked him back with a few comments of his own.

Now, maybe you are one of those who disapproves of Burish’s comments, but believe that that nasty little reporter set up poor ol’ Adam.  Why, he was probably sitting in the dressing room stewing over it later on, snarling, “Ooh, dat wascawwy weporter!  She twicked me!”  Of course, let’s also remember that professional athletes have to take a ton of classes on how to interact with the media.  They’ve got a bevy of cliches at their disposal, and this would have been a perfect time for Burish to use them.  How about answering, “Chris Pronger is quite a competitor, and we had some real battles, but we’ve won the Stanley Cup now, and I don’t want to talk about him anymore?”  See, he didn’t have to give an inch there, and didn’t have to make himself look like a jackass.  Of course, he did anyway.  And Patrick Kane followed suit a couple of days later, making a joke about cab drivers during the Cup parade in Chicago…why he would want to remind anybody about that incident last summer, I have no idea.  But there it was just the same.

What do you want to bet that the Blackhawks brass have a few more media-handling courses on tap during training camp this fall?
